Fonthill Gifford

Fonthill, probably from the Celtic, meaning 'spring place' and Gifford from the possession of the manor by the Giffard family at the time of the Domesday Survey.

The parish of Fonthill Gifford is located in the south-west of the county of Wiltshire. To the north of the parish, the A303 road runs east-west and to the west the A350 runs north-south.

Fonthill Gifford village is one of fifteen in an area known as the Nadder Valley, situated in a triangle formed by Warminster and Shaftesbury in the west, and Salisbury in the east.
